The steamship ran onto rocks and was wrecked at Cape Ailly, near Varengeville-sur-Mer, Seine-Inférieure, France with the loss of nineteen of the 90 people on board. She was on a voyage from Newhaven, Sussex to Dieppe, Seine-Inférieure.
