Description
English: The weir, Sowerby Bridge. This provided water for Sowerby Bridge Mills, in the background (the chimney belongs to Carlton Mill). Sowerby Bridge Mills were built, or probably rebuilt, between 1778 and 1792 and became the first integrated mill in the area, ie where all the different processes of woollen manufacture were carried out in one factory.
