English: The way on from Eididh nan Clach Geala This is the second day of a solo ski tour in which I had left a high camp NE of Beinn Dearg not long after sunrise, knowing that the weather was set to deteriorate, so I was in some hurry to reach my target of Seanna Bhraigh (the sunlit mountain in this view), taking in Meall nan Ceapraichean, Ceann Garbh and Eididh nan Clach Geala on the way there, then get back to camp quickly. This shot was from the start of my descent from Eididh nan Clach Geala as the sunlight changed and highlit one of Scotland's remotest mountains. By the time I crossed the foreground snow on my way back, the weather had become even worse than predicted: the wind was up to gale force, my tent had been destroyed and my route out (taken a day early) would lie over the summit of Beinn Dearg on a bearing in a white-out, so no photographs to post of that part of the trip ! All in all, quite an eventful weekend away from mundane Cambridge... |
