English: The two bridges at Postbridge Two bridges over the East Dart river. Clapper bridge, probably C13 although it may have had more recent repairs. Roughly shaped blocks of granite to the piers with 3 rough granite lintels. 3 spans. This bridge is one of the medieval routes across the moor from Exeter to Tavistock. Road bridge, late C18. Granite rubble. 3 round arch spans which have projecting keystone, central arch taller. Small triangular cutwaters. Cranked parapet with roughly shaped coping stones and slightly swept-out abutments. This bridge superseded the clapper bridge and was erected following the 2 acts of 1772 to turnpike the road between Tavistock and Moretonhampstead.
