Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The three churches of Loughinisland The ruins of these three churches lie, at the end of a lane, just off the road from Loughinisland to Crossgar. The oldest church (middle) is thought to date from the 13th century and was replaced by the one on the left in the 15th century. The south church (right), known as “McCartan's Chapel” has a semi-circular arch and might have been a private chapel for the McCartans – a notable family name in this part of Co Down. Although the churches have long been abandoned the graveyard is still in use as can be seen from the flowers on the grave on the right. Note: I have compiled this caption using a number of sources. The dates are unlikely to be exact.
