Description
English: Notes in inventory: Summit of Mount Tacoma. From the base of Columbia Crest. Looking southeast over a portion of the crater. Mount Adams in distance .

Columbia Crest(Mt. Rainier National Park) The highest and most easterly of the three peaks at the summit of Mt. Rainier, elevation 14,411.1 feet on the rim of a crater which is 1,200 feet in diameter. The name was chosen by a vote of a party led by Maj. E. S. Ingraham. in 1891. It was considered appropriate for what then was thought the highest point in the U.S. Alternate names which have been used are The Dome, Crater Peak, and Peak Success .

Mount Adams, with an elevation of 12,307 feet, is a volcanic peak in the Cascade Mountain range in northeast Skamania and southwest Yakima counties. The mountain has a central dome and four summits and supports eight major glaciers which feed a number of glacial streams. The Indian name was Pah-too, meaning "High sloping mountain." The present name was given by the United States Exploring Expedition in 1841 for John Adams, second president of the United States.
