Neapolis, ^the new city, contained thetheatre, capable of holding iiJU iO spectators, an amphitheatre, severaltemples, and the Lautumiee, or cj^uarries. 5. Epipolae, which, in thetime of Thucydides, was applied to the whole of the plateau AV. ofAchradina, was afterwards restricted to the most inland and hi^rhestportion of it. This contained the fort of Euryalus, now called Mongi-hellisi, erected probably by Dionysius, and enlarged by Hiero II.
