guard on the line of the Long Island R. R. Thisguard is manufactured by the Climax Stock Guard Co., Canton, O.,which has its general sales office at suite 503 Title & Trust Build-ing, Chicago. The small blocks shown in the illustration were assembled for anS-ft. double track guard on the third rail division of the LongIsland railroad and show the adaptability of this size block for ^1 ^^jjg^ —iBiyiJl^^ CLIMAX CL.W C.\TTLE CU.\RD. such nnusna! locations as are found on this line. In some placesthe guards are placed across four and six tracks, being built aroundthe third rails and ground wires. In other places switches andswitch stands are located in the center of the guards, but theblocks are of such size that they may be placed to allow for thesecontingencies and at the same time taken np and rcmuved to otherlocations and fitted there without any loss.
