The region through which the road passes is known as semi-mountainous, and from the highest points superb views may behad of the Catskill Moimtains to the west and the Berkshire Hillsto the east. The farm products of the region are chiefly cornand wheat, but there are numerous dairy and grazing farms andhere and there extensive truck farms, interspersed with appleorchards, vineyards and a few peach orchards. The line runsnear the border of Kinderhook Lake, where a pleasure park is tobe developed, and along Kinderhook Creek, from which the waterpower is derived, and also along Claverack Creek, giving a com-bination of unsurpassed rural scenery which by its beauty mustattract many tourists in addition to the regular travel. The Albany terminus is at the Post Office at the foot of StateSt., and thence the route is over the tracks of the United Trac-tion Co., formerly the Albany Railway Co., south along the riverto the bridge of the Albany & Greenbush Bridge Co., over thisbridge, and then over local tracks for a few blocks to Rensselaer,where the third rail section begins. On leaving Rensselaer thecars ascend a gentle grade on an embankment which forms theapproach to a steel viaduct 2,100 ft. lon
