It was practically just as DameNature had left it then, and the visitors to the placewere restricted principally to those who were well enoughoff to own or hire con\eyances, or ambitious pedestrians. distance between the transfer and the lake has beencovered by a special train over this route in 14 mmutes.The average time is from 23 to 25 minutes. HennepinBoulevard was laid out and opened under the directionof the Park Board of the city, and special provision wasmade for the car tracks, which are laid in a parked andturfed strip down the center of the thoroughfare. Thisstrip is slightly higher than the rest of the boulevard andis separated from a 40-foot drive at each side by a curb-ing of patent stone. On days when there is no specialrush, trains run o\er this line every five minutes.
