The rest in turn consented, on condition thatMr. Frenzel would himself constitute one of the number.The engraving is from a photo 20 by 24 inches, and thevarious portraits will be recognized by many of our read-ers, owing to the large acquaintance of the Indianapolisofficers. A New York syndicate which is already operatingseveral large systems in the east, are making strenuousefforts to secure franchises in the suburbs of Montreal,and are also reported as trying to secure the right to usethe tracks of the City Passenger within the city limits. The Toronto & Scarboro Electric Railway is anotherone of the numerous proposed inter-urban roads. Theplan is to construct an extensive network of lines betweenthe towns mentioned and to sell current for power andlight along the line. The management have issued ahandsome prospectus.

Theprofessors of the City Guilds Institute and the RoyalCollege of Surgeons objected to the proposed roadbecause of the alleged magnetic and mechanical disturb-ances that would be caused by its operation near theirinstitutions. They claimed that it would render impossi-ble all delicate experiments.
