Two kindsare made, the acid, water and steamjiroof, for acid chambers, electrical accu-mulator cells, and is also moulded intogaskets, rings, etc., for steam packing.The fire and waterproof vulcabestonwill withstand a high degree of dryheat and is an absolute non-conductorof electricity. It is made in sheets ofany desired thickness from ijj, of aninch to I inch, and 36x36 inches in size.The H. W.Johns Company is one ofthe largest manufacturers of asbestosproducts for every purpose, from a fireproof theatre curtain to a 4^-inchwasher. By their process this material can be drilled,topped and turned, though for every ordinary elec-trical purpose it is moulded into the desired shapeand size. Vulcabeston will not shrink, warp orexpand.
