. C. suburban—an Everett line—which istrying to force an entrance into Cleveland. The BigConsolidated offered to haul the A. B. C. cars, furnishingcrew and power to and from the heart of the city, forwhat local fares it could collect. The Big Consolidatedis a Tom Johnson line; as is also the Detroit citizens,agamst which the Detroit Railway—an Everett road iswaging war. The resignation of Mr. Wason makes thefourth Everett director to go out of the Big Consolidatedin two years. $7,500 FOR A DEATH. Eugene Medinger secured a verdict of $7,500 againstthe Brooklyn Heights Railroad Company, on account ofthe death of his wife. This was the first case broughtunder the new law, removing the limit of $5,000.Medinger sued for $50,000. The company appealed. The Street Railway Review force was increasedon December 9th by the addition of the finest eight-pound girl in Cook county. Bowen, Superintendent of the Chicago CityRailway Companj,has begun a crusade against teamsterswho obstruct the tracks. The North and West Sidecompanies have also joined in the movement, which hasbeen so successful that the trains can now make theirschedule, being free from the annoyance of loafing team-sters who endeavor to monopolize the track. Letterswere sent to the leading wholesale and retail houses,teaming companies, express companies and other con-cerns using teams, calling their attention to the delay totraffic on account of the dilatory and monopolistic ten-dencies of the teamsters, and asking their co-operation inthe enforcement of city ordinance. For a day or twopolicemen were detailed to ride on the cars, whose dutywas to order teamsters off the track and arrest those whodid not obey with alacrity. A few arrests with fines of$5 was
