THE LYMAN EXHAUST PIPE HEAD. is made by the exhaust through the exhaust pipe. Thecontinuous spray of greas) water that is thrown outthrough the exhaust is very damaging to the engine-houseroof, and unpleasant for pedestrians passing near. Thevarious deflectors shown in the cut, so stop the escapingsteam in its passage, that b.;fore it reaches the top of thepipe head the water is thoroughly disintegrated fromsteam and carried through the drip outlet to the nearestdown-spout. It is claimed by the manufacturers that thepipe head will separate the water from the steam withoutcausing any back pressure on the engine. The hand-hole shown in the illustration has brass-screwed cover,which permits easy access to interior of the head shouldthe drip become clogged by accumulation from theexhaust. ■268 « H
