By this system it is onlynecessary to open a space on the inside of the rail, 6 inches wideand 18 inches long; punch the two holes in the rail, insert the bondand compress it. We liave only used this type of bond on 6-incliside bearing rails, on streets paved with cobble-stones. The cost ofremoving and replacing cobble, punching and inserting the bonds is15 cents per joint. The bonds cost approximately 55 cents each.—P. F. Gerhart. (To bi- coulinufd.)
