The undertaking was takenover by a syndicate, which very soon was compelled to abandon theservice to St. Davids Station (at one extremity of the line), onaccount of the excessive cost of working which the severe gradientof St. Davids Hill entailed, and although this was the most usefidsection so far as the public were concerned, the unfavorable condi-tions under which it was run made it impossible to pay expenses. same time extending the routes throughout the whole town, butafter much negotiation the scheme fell through.
