This is due to the railway not havingefficient track grounds, in which case the currentseeking to return through the dry surface of theearth, runs across a grounded telephone wire. This offer-ing a path of less resistance than the dry earth, itimmediately chooses this wire upon which to return.Thus passing through the telephone central office, itdrops all their annuciators, as can be shown to be thecase. This fault can be ob\iated by providing efficienttrack grounds in manner as abo\e described. A LARGE FLAT CAR.
