IN concluding the disiases of tin- fctt we shall mentionseveral other ailments to which the street car horseis subject.NAVICULAR niSEASK is the term applied to a groggy lameness in the navicula,or coflin joint, an irritation set up in the cancellatedstructure of the bone, which extends and interferes withtiie nutrition of the articular cartilage, causing caries ofthe navicular bone. The causes of this affection ma\ be strictly calledlureditarv or predisposing; the tendency may exist fromliirth. Pressure and concussion are, in general, theremote causes; the proximate is found in inflammation,leading to ulceration, or some ossitic deposit. At onetime it was thought the contracted heels and hollow archof the sole were the cause, but they are mere symptoms.The perforans tendon is inserted
