A large delegation of the city council has gone east toinspect elevated roads. The cable difficulties are setded and the West Side loopis to be extended to State street; The South Side Cablewill build a new down-town loop for Cottage Grove carsto extend to Michigan avenue.

THE BICKFORD is short and adapted to sharp curves. The body of thecar is supported on the axle by a link method, whichallows a free lateral motion of the whole truck on thewheels, and the frame is light, j^et strong. STORAGE BATTERY VOLTS. THE recent decision in the storage batterj caseseems to have given a tremendous impetus tostorage battery experiment. At Freeport, Illinois, a syndicate is negotiating for aset of batteries to operate a road. The storage-battery line at Dubuque has extended itsline 800 feet to the fair grounds. At Sioux Falls, Dakota, experiments are being madewith alleged, a new battery, which is said to hail fromMinneapolis. J. R. Bradbury is endeavoring to demonstrate thestorage battery system for street cars with the companiesof Sioux City. The Woodland Avenue & West Side Railway ofCleveland, has had a car .shipped from Philadelphia, andwill give it a trial, although the company do not expressa great deal of confidence in the practicability of the same.
