Mr. C. O. Simpson, auditor ofthe company, joined the association and was instrumental in bring-ing about its organization. Col. Dyer, president of the railway company, became interestedin the association and guaranteed that the company would buildand equip quarters for the men, where they could entertain them-selves with their smokers and social sessions. He had built alarge hall over the companys car barn and equipped it with thelatest gymnastic apparatus, including foils, boxing gloves, paral-lel and horizontal bars, flying rings, ladders, ropes and punchingbags, also a billiard table. The rooms are equipped with lockersfor each member, and at his pleasure he can enjoy a bath in aconveniently arranged natatorium. On April pth the hall was formally presented to the association

EMPLOYES ROOMS, AUGUSTA RAILWAY & ELECTRIC CO. messengers, operating from district stations which will be estab-lished at convenient points, and the number increased as the busi-ness warrants. These stations will be placed along the main linesand the express cars will be switched into the station buildingsfrom the tracks, thus avoiding all interference with the passengertraffic or sidewalk travel. The interior of the station will be soarranged as to permit cars to run up to one side of the loading andunloading platforms, the other side of the platforms being usedby the electrical automobiles. Most of the heavy hauling will bedone at night. The cars to be used in this service for the present are ten old mailcars owned by the Third Avenue Railroad Co. They have been re-painted and all interior fixtures removed, giving an unobstructedspace for storing away express matter. The cars are 27 ft. in lengthand are equipped with two 2S-h. p. G. E. motors.
