In spite of its many features of interest, the road wouldprobably never have attracted the attention it has were itnot for the decision to adopt electricity as a motive power.The road was built for a steam road and all the planswere drawn for locomotive traction. The credit forinducini^ the owners of the road to adopt electricity isprobably due more to the present general superintendent,W. E. liaker, than to any other man. As general man-ager of the Intramural Railway at the Worlds Fair, hesecured possession of facts and figures which were con-vincing as to the economy of electricity as a motivepower.
