All parts are interchangeable, and hot Norwayiron rivets are used throughout in its construction. The facilities en-joyed by the companyfor the manufacture ofiron trucks are excel-lent. The malleableiron mill is one of themost complete in NewEngland, and makescastings for the WestEnd Street RailwayCompany, the Gene- ral Electric Company, and many others. The annualcapacity of the electric department is i,ooo trucks.That of the car-wheel works is 15,000 wheels. The Laconia Car Company was founded in 1850, andpursued the even tenor of its way until June, 1894, whenthe new street-car department was entirely destroyed byfire. The burnt shops were at once rebuilt on a largerscale, according to plans dictated by the experience ofnearly fifty years. Besides being one of the busiest,Laconia is one of the most picturesque of the numerousmanufacturing
