d here. Throughout the rest of the building the floor isof wood. Arc lamps are provided for lighting, when necessary.Steam pipes arc carried along the walls for heating, and in coldweather these radiators are supplemented by hot air from a Sturtc-vant plant. The mill room is well equipped with machinery for wood-work-ing, a great deal of which was made by the J. A. Fay & Egan Com-pany, of Cincinnati. The mill room machinery includes I wood-worker, I molding machine, 2 rip saws, i shaper, 3 planers, 2 cut-of?saws, I re-.saw, 2 jointers, 1 mortising machine, 2 tenoning ma-chines, I band saw, i Fay boring machine, i combination rip andcross-cut saw, emery grinders, and some smaller machines. There are 74 mei in the ear shop, not including 13 painters. Thecapacity of the shop is eight cars per month. It was first opened inApril, 1898, though not at that time completely finished. Last year22 cars of the companys stanrlard type were built and an order of 30is now going through the shop.

The rest of theold engine and dynamo room is now filled with wood-working ma-chinery and called the mill room. South of the car house is the new car shop, which was completedin April, i8y8. This is a building of brick 359 ft. long, outsidemeasurement; the north wall is formed by the old car house, so,while it is 136 ft. 4 in. wide at the west end, the offset in the old wallreduces it to 130 ft. at the east end. Windows 4 ft. wide x 10 ft.4 in. high are spaced two to each 20 ft. of wall along the south side.At the ends are 14-ft. doors for the entrance and exit of cars, withwindows where the wall spaces admit.
