le attention, and more than one woman, who has made remarks about him, has been meta-phorically knocked down by his Arabships tender voice,sa3ing: Zis, madame, is ze great Pyramid, etc., etc.! (^i?iktj\mWayj^yle\/ 277 ROLLING CHAIRS. NOT only invalids and ladies, but the tired worldin general, may be expected to patronize theconveniences offered by the Columbian Roll-iniT Chair Company, whose vehicles are represented bythe accompanying engraving. The chairs are 2,400 innumber, and were made by the Wakefield Rattan Com-pany and the Haywood Rattan Company. The bodiesof the chairs are made of rattan with cane seats. Thewheels resemble those used on bicycles and have 1%inch rubber tires. The chair is very light, strong anddurable. The wheels are four in number, the front onesbeing pivoted for guides, and can be lifted clear of theground when ascending or descending hills. Doublechairs for wedding parties, with two attendants, are alsoawaiting occupants and will probably be in large demand.
Text Appearing After Image:
ROLLING CHAIR—(GOSPEL CHARIOT.) These chairs will be the only surface conveyances allowedwithin the grounds and will no doubt claim their share ofpatronage. The rates are very reasonable, varying from75 cents an hour for single chairs to $1.00 for doublechairs, with attendants. If your wife or friend desiresthe company of yourself alone, 40 cents an hour will becharged for the single chairs, an hour, and 60 cents forthe double ones. The attendants are all physically capable, young theo-logical students from various colleges, who wear a neatblue uniform and are well posted as to the whats-this-ness and whys-that-ness of the Columbian Exposition. The method of timing the chairs is unique. At thefourteen various chair stations on the grounds, are placed clocks, regulated perfectly. When a ticket is bought itis stamped with the day, hour and minute, by means ofan automatic time stamp, regulated by the clock. Bythis means all contention as to time and price will beobviated. CONSOLIDATED
