In addition to these pas-senger cars, the company operates a 42-ft. combination baggageand mail car, and 5 motor cars have been fitted up for the use of each other and are electrically connected so that either company canobtain power from the other. The Los Angeles Railway Gos,power plant was built in i8gi and is a brick structure of ornamentaldesign with steel roof trusses and a corrugated iron roof. The company is now preparing plans for some new 36-beuch opencars, 60 ft. long which will be qiite a novelty. All of the suburban cars of the Pacific Electric Railway Co. are be-ing equipped with the Grecnameyer trolley base. This is a pneu-matic device which has been severely tested on the Long Beachdivision under the direction of the consulting engineer and the headsof the mechanical and electrical departments. It has been recom-mended as practically perfect.
