Ypsilanti & Ann Arbor Ky. was probably the pioneeilong distance electric railway in this country, it being the first interurban road to construct jo miles of track. The company was or-ganized in 1807, and on December 24th of that year the first 10f road was in 1 1 om Detroit to Dearborn. Dur- ing the summer of 1898 the line was extended to Ann Arbor, anaddition of 30 mile-. During the season of 1899 the Ypsilanti and being one of the oldest towns In the state, having been settled in1705. Located within its borders is a large sanitarium know 11 asSt. Josephs Retreat, which accommodates 500 patients; the beau-tiful grounds ami buildings make it one of the distinctive features ofthe village. Eloise (the seal of the Wayne County House), is a pretty littleStation located on a miniature lake 15 miles from Detroit. The
