The strife between Welf and Waibling had broken out again, but for atime it seemed that their wars would be permanently ended by Frederickselection. He and Henry the Lion were cousins and warm personal friends.One of Fredericks first acts was to arrange for giving back Bavaria to Henry,thus restoring to the Welf chieftain the former power of his family.
