Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The source of the Aldbourne The Aldbourne is an intermittent chalk stream which is often dry as far down as Whittonditch (SU 288 725) several miles south. Conversely, in very wet years the water table in the chalk gets so high that the source migrates upstream into the dry valley above the village. The channel is undefined up here so the water flows through fields and streets for weeks at a time. The round metal thing is actually a bore hole - drilled for water supply. I guess it works.
