Summary

[edit]
Description The simple belt drive that powers the wheels. The fan belt seen here will be spooled onto the grooved wheel on the centre of the axle, and then threaded onto another similar grooved wheel on the engine. Simple, but ingenious. The track seems to be in pretty good condition here, but believe me, it's not! There has been talk of abandoning the Norries in place of proper trains here, which used to run till2009. But there were no signs of that happening here anytime soon. But if it is to be so, the tracks require some serious maintenance, or even replacement in some parts, before a proper train can run on them! (Battambang, Cambodia, Apr. 2014)
