n to playthat it belongs to them.It is just being built, sowe can have it just aswe like. What roomsshall we have in thishouse of ours? Writethe name of each on theboard as it is given. Of course we musthave a kitchen. Whatfor ? What furniturewill be needed here ? What is done withfood after it is cooked ?What do we call the room in which weWhat do we need in our dining-room ? Go through all the essential rooms of a housein the same way, not forgetting the bathroomand cellar, and have the children furnish eachin imagination, after telling why such a room isneeded. A home does a great deal for us. It protectstis from cold and storms, and it gives us a placeto live. What can we do in return? We do notwant to get all this for nothing. Give each child a chance to answer. Thequestion may perhaps be left on the board a dayor two while all think of ways to make homepleasant and happy. Write each answer on theboard as soon as given, and read the entire listover occasionally with the children.

READING LESSON Our homes keep us warm in winter. They keep off the hot sun, and rain and snow. They give us a place to eat and sleep andentertain our friends. In return, we can help to keep the home neatand tidy. We can clean our feet every time we go intothe house. We can put everything in its place when weare through with it. We can play quietly in the house and notdisturb others. We can shut doorsafter us without bang-ing them. We can be careful notto break or spoil any-thing in the house. We can run errandspleasantly. We can help Papaand Mama. Little Ah-ni-ghi-to * eat? JACK FROST Who makes our Tom-mys nose so red ? Nips his hands if hedraws his sled ? Bites his toes when hegoes to bed?Jack Frost. Who paints his cheeks and nips his ears ?Who from his eyes draws big, round tears ?Who comes to see us every year?Jack Frost. WTho covers window panes at night,With picture castles all in white ?But always keeps quite out of sight.Jack Frost. Whom do the boys all love to greet,As he comes
