Out of 647 savings banksof the mutual type found in the United States, 593 arefound in Xew England, New York and New Jersey; andover one-half, or 334, are found in the two states of NewYork and Massachusetts. From a pamphlet issued by the Dollar Savings Bankof Pittsburgh in 190.5, the striking sentence is gathered, thatto-day at the end of half a century the Dollar Savings Bankstands as the only institution of its kind in WesternPennsylvania.
