At the request of the Chicago health depart-ment, all the railroad companies centering on an accident at the crib. The order was passed. Usually about this time the board of healthof New York city, sends out a corps of physi-cians large enough to visit all the tenementhouses and attend to the families of the poor.The doctors also give instructions about the careof infants to ignorant mothers, and leave themsanitary circulars and medicine. Tl e efforts ofthis summer corps not only kept down the deathrate, but supplied the health authorities with agreat deal of valuable information concerningthe condition of the various tenements.
