| Description |
English: The reed cutters' boat. The reed cutters' boat is moored by the landing stage on the other side of the river whilst the workers are busy cutting the reedbeds. Several bundles of dry reeds on the landing stage are awaiting transport. For a wider view of this location see > 1803174.
The reed beds on both sides of the River Waveney are harvested, the reeds are being used for thatching. When the water table is low the workmen are able to access the reedbeds on foot. They use a boat to get to the other side of the river and for transporting the bundled reeds from there onto the dike along which the footpath runs, from where they can be picked up by a car or a tractor. |
