PLAN OF SMALL LABORATORY 225 The disadvantage of the above siniiileplan, arising from the necessity of ceasingexamination while development is going on,may be overcome by the addition of asmall dark room. This dark room shouldbe placed as far from the examination roomas is consistent with comfort, so as to obviatethe necessity of covering its walls with lead trolled. Witliin this room is also )jlaced theinterrupterless machine, as the noise of themotor tends to alarm sensitive patients andchildren. The partition between these roomsshould be covered with lead 1/32-1/16 inchesthick. If this is not feasible, a booth (lead-lined ) should be constructed, sufficiently largeto contain switchboard and two operators.
