Small wonder that this magnifi-cent, well-groomed animal has excited the admiration of his own master who is critically looking him over.The officer is Captain Karry Page, quartermaster of the Headquarters of the Army of the Potomac, sub-sequently colonel and chief quartermaster of the cavalry corps under Sheridan. This was one of the mostarduous posts of duty in the entire ser\ice, and one whose necessities during the severe campaigns up theShenandoah Valley, and around Richmond, kept the young colonel always upon his mettle. He has culti-vated the ability to rest and relax when the opportunity arrives.
