The Mediums should be kept in bottles withclosely fitting- stoppers, especially the spirits, asotherwise these would quickly become fat byevaporation. Paint.—The colors used in painting- upon china orearthenware are, for the most part, oxides of cer-tain metals. A few colors, however, such as thedeep transparent blues, and yellows from onesource, are really, to a certain extent, stainedglass, the glass having- more or less completelydissolved the coloring- matter. China or enamelcolors then, from their containing-, as an essentialconstituent, a glass or flux of vitrifiable composi-tion, are called vitrifiable pigments.
