at fleshy partially expandedperianth, connate lateral sepals subsaccate at the base forming avery short chin, a pair of lamellae at the base of the lip, anda semiterete column deeply excavated in front, the anther bedwith a descending border and a bicuspidate rostellum. Culture.—The plants of this genus are evergreens, requiringcool treatment, and are best grown in baskets suspended fromthe roof, as they produce drooping spikes of flower from thesides of the pseudobulbs. They should be placed in a com-post of peat and moss, giving them a liberal supply of waterduring the growing season. They are propagated by dividingthe pseudobulbs. M. sangumeuin, Rchb. f.—This very pretty plant, thoughknown long since, was not brought in a living state to thiscountry until a few years ago. In habit it resembles the smaller
