| Description |
English: The old stocks, Dromore. The old stocks are said to date from 1805 when such things were used as punishment for petty crime. Punishment by stocks was abolished in England in 1821 (don't know whether the same date applied in Ireland) so they seem to have had a fairly short active life. They were re-mounted to the southern side of the market house in 1910. See also 1094593 and 1191922. |
