The Chicago Tribune of May 12thcontained the tollowing:Starts With Slayer Son on 150 MileTrip Over Ice to Jail. Seattle, Wash., May 10.—The Rev.A. R. Hoare an Episcopal missionaryin Alaska for twenty years, was shotand killed at Point Hope April 27 byJames McGuire, Jr., 18 years old, sonof the superintendent of education atKotbegue, Alaska, according to a wire-less despatch received here today. The boy was taken into custody byhis father and is now a prisoner ona dog sled crossing the snow and iceto the nearest United States marshalat Candle, 150 miles distant. It isbelieved he is demented. It was said that the Rev. Mr. Hoaremet the boy on a trip outside lastsummer and induced him to go intothe north with him as his assistantlast fall.
