A system of narrow-gauge railroad devised to furnish transportation facilities to portions of the valley not reached by the other roads, also terminates in Portland. The main line of the Oregon Railway & Navigation Company ex-tends eastward to a junction with the Northern^ Pacific at Wallula, and by means of numerous branches reaches nearly all the productive country of eastern Oregon, and a large part of eastern Washington.
