Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe new boathouse - Inner Lough, Dartrey - geograph.org.uk - 1620236.jpg |
English: The new boathouse - Inner Lough, Dartrey This new boathouse appears to be under construction at the place where Dartrey Castle's 19th century boathouse once stood. The 'Castle' itself used to be on the slope behind and to the left of the boathouse. It was a great Gothic-style mansion, designed and built by William Burn in 1846, http://www.old-print.com/mas_assets/full/E3561880057A.jpg which was demolished in 1950 when the Dawson family began withdrawing from the property. Dartrey, originally called Dawson's Grove, had then been their family home for nearly three centuries 897437 . The white buildings on top of the hill are a modern construction. |
