Description
English: "The new Mint on the Strand, Calcutta, from the south, with shipping beyond," watercolour, by Thomas Prinsep, a member of the Anglo-Indian Prinsep family and a descendant of John Prinsep, merchant and later MP. Thomas Prinsep's brother James was a well-known scholar and antiquarian in India. Thomas Prinsep died in 1830, a year after completing this painting. Courtesy of the British Library, London.
