The female lays a number of eggs in the feafon : they are fmallerthan that of a hen, and of a more rounded form, the colour reddilhwhite obfcurely freckled with darker, and may be hatched under theCommon Hen. It is obferved of thefe bifds, by Dr. Latham, thatthey are fond of having a large range, but if there is much flicker,the hen will often fecrete a neft and appear on a fudden with morethan twenty young ones at her heels.
