This PLATE CXXXIV. ThJl pretty Httle bird is efleemed the fraalleft of the European fpe-cies, the Golden Crefled W%en excepted. It inhabits the temperateparts of northern Europe, and the fouth of Afia* ^ - * The Wren remains in Britain throughout the year. The neft is ofan oval forn), compofed of mofs lined with feathers, and having afmall entrance in the middle. The female has two broods annually,one in April, the other in June, at each tihie laying from ten to fix-teen eggs, which are of a white colour, and marked at the end withreddifh. Its nefl is commonly found affixed againft outhoufes, orold walls, or, if built in the woods, (lands generally on a low flumpamong bufhes near the ground. The note of this bird is a pleafing warble, beard at all feafons of theyear, but only in the day-time. PLATE 135
