In the Orknies they are Ceen. in flocksfrom October to April. Thefe Birds living chiefly °n the water,dive and fwim well, and fubfifl: on fmall mell-fifti. They buildtheir nefts among the grafs, &c. on the fea more. The varietymentioned by Mr. Latham, which is called OEdel by the inha-bitants of the Ferroe ifles, has the black ftreak down the middle ofthe crown to the hind head, as in our fpecimen, from whichhave been led to confider our Bird a variety alfo.
