The Shoveler Duck, although an accurately known and well au-thenticated fpecies, is not confidered as a conunon bird. Willoughbymentions one that was found at Crovvlaad, in Lincolr.ibire; Dr.Latham once received a fpecinien from the London markets, andwhere alfo we have fometimes feen it. The fpeeies is not fuppofedto breed in England. Buffon fpeaks of their coming into France in February : and ob-ferves that fome remain there during the fummer, and depart in Sep-tember.
