Description

Here I am, in the 1970's, at the place with the longest place name in the UK, and the second longest in the world. It is Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwiiiiantysiligogogoch, a village on the island of Anglesey in North Wales.

For some reason the name is often now shortened to "just" Llanfairpwllgwyngyll.

According to Wikipedia the full Welsh name approximately translates as "The church of St. Mary of the pool of the white hazels near the rapid whirlpool and the church of St.Tysilio of the red cave.

I visited several years ago but it's still an attraction for visitors to say they have been there.
