By the Romans it was believed to be thelargest vessel that ever sailed on the ocean. HARBOUR OF OSTIA. 349 the rest, this harbour resembled that at CentunicellaG. Like thelatter, it consisted of an outer harbour built into the sea byClaudius, and of a large basin afterwards dug into the shoreby command of the Emperor Trajan.
