ns, although showy birds, have not commanded the attention one would expect. Theiraffinity with the Duckwing Game and similarity of colormay account for this. They are seldom shown and littlebred. Although the female breast is described by the stan-dard as light salmon, there is a great difference between itand the rich salmon of the Brown Leghorn, the first namedapproaching the paleness of the Duckwing Game, while therich salmon in the Brown Leghorns breast is supposed todesignate a far darker shade—another opening for a definiteexpression of color by the standard. Strict attention must be paid to shape (or type if youlike it) in this variety, if it is desired to make it a credit tothe Leghorn class. Take the Leghorns as a whole and we believe they ap-proach nearer to standard typical shape than any otherclass outside of the Game. This is a feather in the cap ofLeghorn fanciers, and it matters little whether that featherbe plucked from a Brown, White, Black, Buff or DuckwingLeghorn.

Criticisms of Foremost Judges and Leghorn Breeders on a Composite Ideal from Live Models, as Drawn byFranklane L. Sewell—A Collection of Opinions that are in Themselves Authority on theIdeal Shape of a Standard-bred Leghorn. From the Reliable Poultry Journal. THE following comments on Mr. Sewells conception ofstandard Leghorn male shape show that the Leg-horn breeders of the country are loyal to their fa-vorites. Notwithstanding the fact that we havemore breeders of Plymouth Rocks than of Leghorns, stillthe Leghorn breeders who have responded to the Journalsrequest for criticisms of the male Leghorn shape presentedby Mr. Sewell exceed in number those who responded onPlymouth Rock ma
