Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe inundated flood plain of Afon Rhythallt - geograph.org.uk - 1591704.jpg |
English: The inundated flood plain of Afon Rhythallt For thousands of years after the end of the Quaternary Ice Age, the lake which became known as Llyn Padarn extended as far northwards as the site of the Pont Rhythallt bridge SH5463. Deposits from fast flowing streams, however, gradually filled in the northern section of the lake leaving the area to be drained by Afon Rhythallt which discharges from the lake. Heavy rainfall often leads to the river overflowing its banks and recreating an extensive, though temporary, lake. |
